Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) revised the Aadhaar card update charges earlier this year in April. In a circular issued by UIDAI dated April 22, charges for updating your Aadhaar details such as address,mobile number, and biometrics etc. have been revised.

According to the official circular, the new charges for updating demographic details such as name, address, gender, email ID, mobile number are Rs 50 as opposed to Rs 25 earlier. Similarly, updating biometric details such as photograph, fingerprints and iris scan will now cost Rs 50 as well. The charges are inclusive of taxes.

The cost of Aadhaar search using e-KYC/Find Aadhaar/any other tool and colour printout on A4 shit has been kept at Rs 30. These charges are applicable to the residents at all Aadhaar Enrolment and update centres. Updating address in Aadhaar card on the UIDAI website and availing other services online is still free of cost.

It is to be noted that getting your Aadhaar card reprinted from the UIDAI’s website is still chargeable. In order to get your Aadhaar card reprinted, you will have to pay Rs 50 which is inclusive of printing charges, speed post charges and GST. The payment can be made online via debit card, credit card, net banking and UPI.

If you are enrolling for Aadhaar for the first time, then you will not be required to pay any charges. Also, mandatory update of biometrics for children aged five years and 15 years is also free of cost.

Worth mentioning here is that UIDAI has started several Aadhaar Seva Kendras(ASKs) in the country. These centres will provide services such as new enrolment, address update, name update, date of birth update, etc. Presently, these services are provided in select banks, post offices and in government offices by UIDAI.

UIDAI is planning to open 114 such centres in 53 cities across the country for providing hassle-free Aadhaar enrolment and update services to the people with prior appointment. UIDAI aims to set up of all the 114 ASKs by the end of the year 2019.
